If you're interested in joining The Daily Nebraskan team, please print off an application and submit it to the newsroom's reception area, which is on the lower level of the Nebraska Union, Room 20.
Applicants may be from any college/major, but must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours of coursework at UNL and maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA to work on staff.

Managing editor

* This new desk will produce multiple-day packages of stories or in-depth pieces, sidebars and other textual elements. Some series may include investigative reporting and different story-telling approaches. This team will have two senior reporters; however, assignment reporters and staff reporters from other sections may work with the projects assignment editor on series and more in-depth projects, too.

Copy Desk
Copy chief/slot editors
... Oversee and manage copy editors and their work flow, perform duties listed below in the job description for copy editors and communicate with other section to finesse all copy. Work with Web copy chief.
Copy editors
... Recognize and correct errors of fact, grammar, syntax, style and punctuation in all copy to prevent readers from stumbling and to preserve the paper's credibility. Recognize and address questions of fairness, taste and sensitivity, so that the Daily Nebraskan accurately reflects the diversity of cultures and opinions in the communities we serve. Write headlines that reflect the tone and substance of the story and draw the attention that the story deserves, without putting off readers through being too cute, confusing or obscure.
