Cornhuskers wrestling falls to Gophers in dual

The No. 12 ranked Nebraska wrestling team entered this seasons' third dual against the No. 2-ranked and defending national champion Minnesota on Thursday.
The Cornhuskers were unable to collect enough points to outscore the Gophers, ending the dual with a 25-13 loss to the defending national champions.
Starting off the dual at the 197-pound weight class, NU's Craig Brester controlled his match. Brester allowed only one escape, winning by a major decision 11-1, including a nearfall in the second period. The No. 8-ranked sophomore (according to the Amateur Wrestling News Division I poll) remains undefeated this season.
Nineteenth-ranked NU senior Jon May began the match with a takedown over Minnesota and scored an escape to take the match by a decision of 6-5.
At 157 pounds, the 13th-ranked NU sophomore Stephen Dwyer won by decision over Minnesota's Scott Glasser.
Nebraska was forced to forfeit at the 125-pound weight class giving up six points to Minnesota. It also forfeited the 157-pound class.
At 133 pounds, No. 7-ranked sophomore Kenny Jordan owned the match against No. 5 Mack Reiter until the end. The sophomore was hurt by a stall warning, which earned the deciding point for Reiter, who won 5-4. Jordan now is 8-1 on the season.
NU's Brandon Browne took his loss at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational last weekend with a grain of salt to come back to win the 174-pound class by a decision with a score of 5-2 against No. 9 Gabe Dretsch. Browne ranked at No. 7, allowed only two escapes.
This northern rivalry between the Huskers and Gophers has dated back to 1922. To date, Nebraska trails the all-time series 17-46, though improved on last season's dual at the NU Coliseum, which ended with a score of 6-32.
The Huskers return to action tonight against South Dakota State at 7 in Brookings, S.D. They then host Dana College at the NU Coliseum on Dec. 15.
