Does playing catcher ever get annoying?
It's a tough overall position. The ball hits you a lot. The only reason I picked up being a catcher when I was little was because my dad made me, because no one else wanted to play catcher.
Have you ever had an odd conversation with an opposing batter?
One time we were playing Baylor, one of their batters comes up, and I see they got green stirrups, right? And they got white socks underneath. And I said, 'They give you those green stirrups, but do they give you those white socks underneath?' And he was like 'Yeah, they give us these white socks.' I was thinking they had their own socks.
What do you guys do for fun on off days?
We play chess … we play Spades.
I'll put that in there if you say something real.
(Laughs) OK. I don't know. We go out to eat a lot.
What's your favorite team meal on the road?
Rudy's Bar-B-Q … because it's really good. I like brisket, and they got good brisket there. If there's one there, we'll eat there.
